Town Close Birthday Celebrations!

Celebrating 20 years of Town Close

Town Close, our extra care housing scheme in Stokesley, has celebrated 20 years of supporting residents and being at the heart of the local community.

Owned by Broadacres Housing Association, Town Close provides care and support on site and is home to 40 people. Facilities include a bistro, communal lounge, laundry, assisted bathroom and secure garden. The bistro is open to the public during the day, alongside Stokesley Library, the Community Care Association and North Yorkshire Council offices.

Residents, families and staff marked the special milestone with entertainment and a buffet lunch.

Christine Foy, scheme manager, said:
“It was fantastic to be able to mark the anniversary of the scheme and to see so many of our residents’ family members joining in the celebrations.
Town Close has always been a very special place at the heart of the community in Stokesley.”

Jean Blake, who has lived at Town Close for eight years, said:
“I really enjoy living here because I still have my independence but also have the comfort of knowing I have the care and support too when needed.”

Linda Monaghan, a newer resident, also took part in the celebrations. She said:
“I haven’t been at Town Close for long but have made lots of friends and it’s nice to be part of the 20th birthday celebrations.”

Care at the scheme is delivered by North Yorkshire Council. Town Close is one of four extra care schemes run by Broadacres in partnership with the council. The others are Rivendale in Northallerton, The Orchards in Brompton, and Kirkwood Hall in Leyburn.
