We’ve launched a new information hub on our website to make it easier for customers to find out how we manage their homes, deliver services and make decisions.
The new hub has been developed in response to Government requirements designed to improve transparency and give social housing customers greater access to information about their landlord.
STAIRs stands for Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements.
Introduced by the Government as part of wider reforms to social housing, STAIRs aims to make housing associations more open and accountable to their customers.
The requirements are designed to give customers greater access to information about how their landlord operates, how money is spent, how decisions are made and how services are performing.
STAIRs forms part of the changes introduced following the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, which aims to strengthen the rights of social housing customers and improve standards across the sector.
The new requirements are being introduced in two stages.
From 1 October 2026 – Access to published information
Social housing landlords are required to proactively publish certain information about their organisation, homes and services, making it easier for customers to find and access.
From 1 April 2027 – The right to request information
Customers will also be able to request additional information about how their homes and services are managed.
Landlords will generally have 30 calendar days to respond to these requests, although some information may be exempt from disclosure.
We’ll provide more information about how to make a request ahead of April 2027.
To support the new requirements, we’ve created a dedicated STAIRs information hub on our website.
Much of this information was already available, but we’ve brought it together in one place to make it simpler and quicker to find.
The hub includes information about:
We believe our customers should be able to easily access information about the services they receive, understand how decisions are made and see how we’re performing.
Our new information hub is another step towards making this information more accessible and ensuring we’re open and accountable to the people and communities we serve.
Visit our STAIRs information hub to find out more and explore the information available.
Work is underway on 26 new affordable homes in Hunmanby and Shipton by Beningbrough, supported by funding from North Yorkshire Council’s second homes premium. The developments will provide much-needed, energy-efficient homes for local people, helping families remain in the communities where they live and work.
We’re pleased to welcome Tim Payne as the new Group Chair of Broadacres, succeeding Helen Simpson OBE following the completion of her six-year term.
