Broadacres reaffirms commitment to the Armed Forces community during Armed Forces Week

As Armed Forces Week begins, we’re proud to recognise the dedication and contribution of serving personnel, Reservists, veterans and military families.

As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, we’re committed to ensuring that members of the Armed Forces community are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged because of their service.

Many members of the Armed Forces community live and work in the areas we serve, and we’re committed to ensuring they receive fair access to housing and employment opportunities. Building strong relationships with the Armed Forces community and continuing to learn from their experiences is an important part of that commitment.

Recently, colleagues from Broadacres attended an employer engagement day at RAF Leeming, joining organisations from across Yorkshire and the Humber to gain a greater understanding of the role Reservists play alongside their civilian careers and the valuable skills they bring to the workplace.

The visit provided a behind-the-scenes insight into life on the station, with colleagues learning more about the work carried out by the RAF and how the leadership, teamwork, communication, resilience and adaptability developed through Reserve service can benefit employers, colleagues and the wider community.

The event also provided an opportunity to connect with organisations from across the region, share experiences and learn more about how employers can support colleagues who choose to serve as Reservists.

We recognise that members of this community may face unique challenges, including transitioning to civilian life, maintaining their physical and mental wellbeing, and accessing services or employment.

That’s why, during Armed Forces Week and beyond, we’re committed to showing our continued support. By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, we’ve pledged that members of the Armed Forces community should never face disadvantage because of their service, and that those who have been injured, bereaved or served in difficult circumstances receive the recognition and consideration they deserve.

We’re also proud to be working towards the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, reinforcing our commitment to supporting defence, our colleagues, our customers and inspiring others to do the same.”
