Children at Meadowside Academy in Knaresborough are enjoying new outdoor play equipment after the school received funding from Broadacres Housing Association’s Community & Sustainability Fund.
The £200 grant has been used to purchase equipment that encourages physical development, builds confidence and supports children’s wellbeing through active, inclusive play.
The new resources are already proving popular with pupils, creating more opportunities for children to play, learn and develop together outdoors.
Gemma Young, fundraiser with Meadowside Academy’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), said:
“The children are thoroughly enjoying using the new resources – smiling, active and fully engaged.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Broadacres. Their support is making a real difference by helping our children access fun, inclusive equipment.”
Like many schools, Meadowside Academy’s core budget is focused on essential resources, meaning fundraising plays an important role in providing additional opportunities for pupils. The new play equipment is particularly beneficial for children with additional needs, helping to ensure outdoor play is accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Our Community & Sustainability Fund supports projects that make a positive difference in the communities where we have homes. Funding is available to local organisations, charities and community groups delivering initiatives that benefit local people, with grant applications assessed by a panel of Broadacres customers.
