Succession
Dealing with the loss of anyone is difficult and there is a lot to think about. However, we must be told about the death of any tenant as soon as possible. If the tenancy can be passed onto to someone else, this is known as succession.
The law of succession can be complicated and we would guide you through it once you contact us.
Assignment
Passing on your tenancy to someone else while you are alive is known as an assignment. You must get our written permission to do this. You can only normally assign your tenancy to someone who would have been entitled to a right of succession if you had died.
The only exceptions to this are if a court orders an assignment because of a relationship breakdown or if you are exchanging your home with someone else.
