Northallerton Girls Football team in their new black training tops.A girls’ football team will be able to tackle the winter, spring, or British summer chill thanks to a grant from Broadacres.

Northallerton Juniors used the money from the housing association’s community development fund to buy raincoats and training tops for their girls u13 team and now they are ready for anything the weather can throw at them.

“The new gear is brilliant, and the girls are really chuffed,” said manager Dave Gill.

“Proper kit brings them together as a team, they feel more professional and all having the same kit ensures no-one is excluded on grounds of cost.”

Dave said women’s football has taken off in recent years. Northallerton have teams at three different age groups including 15 girls in his u13 squad.

“There’s no doubt the success of the Lionesses has increased interest,” said Dave. “Also, more schools are now giving girls a football option and that has led to an increase in girls wanting to join junior football clubs to play more and improve their skills.”

And those skills are not just limited to football.

“It is an opportunity get some healthy exercise, to make friends and learn social, leadership and team work skills,” said Dave.

The club welcomes new joiners whether they have played before or are new to the game. Contact details can be found at: https://www.ntjfc.co.uk/
