Work begins on new bike park in Richmond, North Yorkshire after £250,000 funding boost

Work has begun on a new community bike park in Richmond, North Yorkshire, after £250,000 was secured to bring the project to life.

Broadacres Housing Association is proud to support the initiative, which has been driven by a dedicated group of local volunteers and backed by a range of partners, funders and community organisations.

The funding has been raised through a combination of grants, donations and community support, helping turn a local idea into a reality.

Once complete, the bike park will provide a safe and accessible space for people of all ages to enjoy cycling, learn new skills and spend time outdoors.

The project will also create opportunities for young people to get involved, with plans for skills sessions, safety workshops and volunteering activities.

A ‘soft’ opening is planned for autumn 2026, with further landscaping and biodiversity improvements continuing ahead of a full launch in spring 2027.

Volunteers will continue to play a key role throughout the project, supporting activities such as planting and site preparation.

The bike park will create a new space for the community to come together and enjoy the outdoors.
