Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and neighbourhood.
If you’re experiencing anti-social behaviour (ASB), reporting it can feel like a big step. You might be unsure whether what’s happening is classed as ASB or wonder what happens once you’ve reported it.
As part of ASB Awareness Week, we’re explaining what you can expect when you contact Broadacres and how our Community Safety Team works with customers to help resolve issues.
Anti-social behaviour is behaviour that causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to others.
Examples include:
Every report is assessed individually because every situation is different.
We understand that living close to other people can sometimes lead to disagreements or frustrations. However, not every issue is classed as anti-social behaviour.
For example, everyday household noise, children playing, one-off parties or neighbour disputes may not always meet the threshold for an ASB investigation.
If you’re unsure, please get in touch. We’ll listen to your concerns, offer advice and help you understand the best way forward.
If you’re experiencing anti-social behaviour, please don’t suffer in silence.
You can report concerns through My Broadacres, by contacting our Customer Contact Centre on 01609 767900 or by speaking to a member of our team.
When you report ASB, we’ll ask you for as much information as possible so we can understand what’s happening and decide on the most appropriate response.
Once we’ve received your report, a member of our Community Safety Team will assess the information you’ve provided.
We take a victim-centred approach, which means we’ll work with you to understand how the behaviour is affecting you and agree the most appropriate way forward.
Depending on the circumstances, we may:
Your investigating officer will explain the next steps and work with you throughout the investigation.
We know that some situations need urgent attention.
Reports involving serious anti-social behaviour, such as threats of violence, hate incidents or domestic abuse, are prioritised and responded to within one working day.
Other reports of anti-social behaviour are responded to within three working days.
If a crime is taking place or someone is in immediate danger, you should always contact the police by calling 999. Non-emergency crimes should be reported to the police by calling 101.
Most cases can be resolved through early intervention, communication and partnership working. Our aim is always to find the most appropriate solution while supporting customers and helping to create safe, welcoming neighbourhoods for everyone.
If you’re experiencing anti-social behaviour, or you’re unsure whether something should be reported, please get in touch. We’re here to listen, offer advice and work with you to find the right support.
