Extra Care housing at The Orchards
There are 34 flats and 3 two-bedroom bungalows at The Orchards, for people who need some care and support to allow them to continue to live independently. Within the scheme there is a bistro, shared lounge, laundry, assisted bathroom and secure garden. The scheme forms part of the local community and members of the public can access the bistro. There are areas that are for residents only and these areas are protected by electronic keypads so only residents and members of staff are able to enter.
The scheme also has 2 clinical flats which are regularly used by the local community to assist with recuperation, enabling sooner discharge from hospital before returning home. They also provide an alternative, safe environment for people to be cared for instead of being taken into hospital when that is not required, keeping them local to family and friends.
