Claire Townson begins role as Chief Executive at Broadacres Housing Association

Today marks the start of a new chapter at Broadacres Housing Association as Claire Townson officially begins her role as Chief Executive.

Claire takes over from Lee Sugden, who has led the organisation over the past six months as Interim Chief Executive, providing stability and continuity during a period of transition.

During his time at Broadacres, Lee worked closely with colleagues across the organisation, supporting teams and helping to maintain momentum on the services and priorities that matter most to customers.

As he hands over the role, Lee said:

“It’s been a privilege and pleasure to work with everyone for the last six months. I have really enjoyed working with the team and it is fantastic to be handing over the reins to Claire, who I know will take the organisation from strength to strength. I will always keep an eye out for Broadacres and wish everyone the very best for the future.”

Helen Simpson, Chair of the Board at Broadacres, said:

“It is great to formally welcome Claire Townson in her new role today as Broadacres’s CEO. Building on her excellent work in her previous role as Executive Director of People, Digital and Communications, Claire is motivated by her commitment to North Yorkshire and a passion for the difference that good social housing can make to our customers and their communities. The Board and I are looking forward to the work we will be doing together in this next chapter for Broadacres and in the contribution we make to the region. Our thanks go to Lee Sugden for what he has helped us to achieve in his six months as Interim CEO and Claire and I wish him all the best for the future.”

Claire is already well known across Broadacres, having previously worked within the organisation as Director of People, Digital and Communications. As Chief Executive, she will focus on delivering great customer experiences, great homes and great communities, while building on the strong foundations already in place.

Speaking on her first day in the role, Claire said:

“I am delighted to be starting as Chief Executive at Broadacres today. From my time as Executive Director of People, Digital and Communications, I know how committed our colleagues are to supporting customers and communities across North Yorkshire. My focus will be on listening, building on what works well and continuing to provide safe, affordable homes and services that our customers can trust.”
