At Broadacres Housing Association, we are proud to work in communities right across North Yorkshire. Our East Coast communities are full of people who care deeply about where they live, and we love being able to support and celebrate that.
One group making a real difference locally is Keep Scarborough Tidy.
The volunteer-led group organises regular litter picks across Scarborough, from residential streets and green spaces to coastal areas that welcome residents and visitors alike. Armed with litter pickers, gloves and bags, volunteers give up their time to clear rubbish, improve shared spaces and encourage others to take pride in the town.
Their work is not just about removing litter. It is about creating safer, cleaner neighbourhoods and bringing people together. Each clean up is an opportunity for neighbours to meet, chat and feel part of something positive.
We were delighted to previously support Keep Scarborough Tidy through our Community Development Fund. The funding helped to provide equipment and resources to support their ongoing activity. It is always inspiring to see how our grants can make a meaningful impact when it is placed in the hands of passionate local people.
While our Community Development Fund is not currently open for new applications, our commitment to supporting strong communities remains. Sharing and celebrating stories like this is one of the ways we continue to champion the positive work happening in our neighbourhoods.
Groups like Keep Scarborough Tidy are a brilliant example of community spirit in action. Their dedication benefits everyone who lives, works and visits Scarborough, and we are proud to have played a small part in supporting their efforts.
If you are involved in a local project or community initiative in one of our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear about it.
