Adapting your home
If you have problems moving around or coping in your home, we
can carry out alterations that may help you such as ramps, showers
and grab rails.
An occupational therapist will need to call and see you so that
they can recommend the most appropriate alterations. They may
also be able to help you with other equipment. Occupational
therapists are usually employed by North Yorkshire County Council
and, in other areas, by the local council. Please refer to
the leaflet below for contact details.
In some cases it may be better for you to move to more suitable
accommodation and, if so, we will visit you and discuss this with
you.
If the alteration is expensive, you may need to apply to your
local council for a grant. Depending on your circumstances,
you may need to pay for some of the work. We will help you
claim the grant and organise the work for you.
