Investors in diversity
Broadacres Housing Association has achieved a
new kitemark standard for its diversity policies.
Established in 1993 the association is based
in Northallerton and manages almost 5000 homes in Hambleton,
Darlington, Richmondshire, Harrogate, Selby, East Riding of
Yorkshire and Scarborough. The association is among the first
companies to be awarded the Investors in Diversity standard from
the National Centre for Diversity.
The assessments conducted in February and July
2009 involved a cross section of staff, stakeholders and customers
of Broadacres.
National Centre for Diversity
commented that “Broadacres is a forward looking organisation
that has chosen to go beyond the compliance model of diversity by
undertaking and achieving the prestigious sought after Investors in
Diversity standard. We believe that it takes a brave organisation
with courageous people to invite external, independent and
objective scrutiny, however Broadacres saw this as an opportunity
to build on the progress that they have already made. We wish
Broadacres continued success in all its endeavours and congratulate
them on the achievement of this prestigious award”.
The Managing Director, Steve Towers, commented
“Achieving this prestigious award is a endorsement that Broadacres
is getting it right when it comes to Equality and Diversity. The
challenge is to continue to maintain the very high standards that
have been set both within the association and when dealing with our
customers and stakeholders’.
