Home improvement agency
Most people, irrespective of age or disability would prefer to
live in their own home for as long as possible. However, a person’s
home can quickly become unsuited to their needs due to disrepair,
illness or disability.
Vale and Dale Home Improvement Agency is a not for profit scheme
which provides advice, support and assistance to vulnerable home
owners and private sector tenants who want to repair, maintain,
improve or adapt their homes.
Unfortunately for most older and disabled people arranging
and funding the necessary repairs or adaptations can prove to be a
very complicated and distressing experience. Vale and Dale was set
up by Broadacres in 1999 to try to address these needs. We visit
clients in their own homes and provide a free and confidential
advisory service. If works then proceed, for a small fee, we can
advise and support clients throughout the process including:
- The preparation of schedules of work, detailed drawings and
contract document.
- Help in finding a suitable and reliable builder and in
obtaining competitive quotes.
- Obtaining the required Local Authority Planning and Building
Regulations approvals
- Advice on and help in securing possible sources of funding
including:
Disabled Facilities Grants - this grant is for
the purpose of adaptations to a disabled client's home and must be
supported by a recommendation from an Occupational Therapist.
Grants & Loans - For essential repairs
to the home grants and loans may be available subject to
eligibility criteria being met.
Home Energy Efficiency Scheme - A grant may be
available for the purpose of insulating, improving or replacing the
heating in a client's home.
Charitable Funding
In addition the Agency provides a number of ancillary services.
