To rent

We have a range of properties to rent in the following local authority areas:

  • Hambleton
  • Harrogate
  • Darlington
  • Richmondshire
  • Scarborough
  • Selby
  • East Riding of Yorkshire
  • County Durham

Our leaflet 'Villages & Towns with Association Property' tells you the types of property we own in each area. To see if you are eligible to join our waiting list then please complete our housing eligibility form (select "I want to make a housing application" from the drop down box).

We also have specialist accommodation for those applicants who may need more support or we can provide floating support. Our leaflet supported housing tells you more about these schemes.

We are also building properties for low cost home ownership. Click this link to learn more in our Development section.

In all the areas, apart from Hambleton, you should apply to the local council to go on their waiting list. This is because we have agreements with the councils for them to put forward applicants from their lists for any vacancies and new properties.

Broadacres has charitable status which means that you must meet certain criteria to be able to join our waiting list. (If you are eligible to be put forward from the local councils list, you will still need to meet our criteria).

These criteria are:

a) You are an existing tenant of Broadacres.
b) You are aged 60 or over and specifically want sheltered or ground floor accommodation.
c) You need specifically designed or adapted accommodation because of a mental or physical disability and are unable to buy or rent such a property within your means.
d) You are aged 18 or over and having difficulty finding or sustaining suitable accommodation because of your financial circumstances. (In exceptional circumstances we will accept applications from 16 and 17 year olds).

What do we mean by financial circumstances?
Each year we review average house prices in the area and also private rents and decide what level of income and savings you will need to find accommodation in the private sector. If your income and savings are below these levels, you can join our list.

You can download the latest Financial Eligibility Criteria here.

What do we mean by suitable accommodation?

  • A minimum size (in respect of number of bedrooms) for your circumstances
  • Have a minimum level of facilities
  • Have appropriate amenities for any particular needs, for example as a result of a medical condition
  • Available for at least 7 months
  • Affordable.
