Mental health service
Broadacres' supported housing offers an alternative to
hospitalisation for people in need of intensive mental health
support services.
The recovery process for people experiencing mental ill health
is greatly enhanced by living in as ordinary an environment as
possible. This helps people to grow in confidence living within
their community and to respond effectively to the impact of their
illness.
Broadacres has three supported housing schemes, one at Askrigg,
one in Northallerton and one in Scarborough (Support is provided by
‘Rethink’ in Scarborough). Each has six self-contained flats.
A multi-agency approach is used to deliver short-term (up to 2
years), support services with Broadacres staff working closely with
the Community Mental Health Team, Consultants, General
Practitioners and other support providers .
